Tooele People Directories by Source
No single Tooele directory lists every resident. Start with the source that fits the person's public role or the period being researched. Current staff directories are best for reaching an office. Property, credential, and business indexes identify owners, licensees, or filed agents. Historical collections can place a name in a record, yet may not prove where that person lived at the time.
| Directory | Names it covers | Keeper | Access route |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tooele City Directory | Named city staff and department desks | Tooele City | Free searchable table |
| District Directory | Tooele County School District personnel | School district | Free keyword and name search |
| State Phone Directory | Utah state employees | State of Utah | First and last name search |
| Parcel and deed indexes | Owners and recorded parties | Tooele County | Web index, paid images, office fallback |
| License directories | Professionals, attorneys, and educators | Utah boards and agencies | Official public lookup |
| County record collection | People in deeds, marriages, wills, and naturalizations | FamilySearch and archives | Search or browse images; access can vary |
These people directories describe roles. A parcel owner may not occupy the property. A registered agent may not own the firm. A burial-space purchaser may not be the person buried there. Record the source, date, and role before treating two same-name entries as the same person.
Search Tooele City Staff Directory
The Tooele City employee directory is a live table rather than a name-only PDF. Its one search box filters across department, first name, last name, title, email, and phone. That makes a staff title such as recorder or a department such as library just as useful as a surname. The Show control changes the row count, and each column heading can sort the results.
| Directory control | Type | Required | Search behavior |
|---|---|---|---|
| Show | Dropdown | No | Changes how many rows appear |
| Search | Text | No | Filters all six directory columns |
| Column headings | Sort controls | No | Sort department, names, title, email, or phone |
The city directory interface pictured here shows its row controls and searchable staff fields.
The screenshot confirms that one global box can find a name, title, or department. A sample inspected entry displayed Building Safety, Brad Alder, Building Official, brada@tooelecity.gov, and 435-843-2132. Other named desks included the City Recorder, Library Director, City Attorney, Business Licensing specialist, and mayor. Blank-name department rows can still supply a direct number. City reception at 435-843-2100 is the fallback.
Tooele School District Directory
The Tooele County School District directory was the largest verified local staff listing. Inspection found 337 entries across 17 pages, with 21 entries per page. Search controls are Keyword, First Name, and Last Name. A result can show a person's name, title, work location, and email or contact route.
| Name | Staff member's displayed name |
|---|---|
| Title | District or school assignment |
| Location | Associated office or campus |
| Contact | Email or other published work channel |
A sample inspected entry identified Alesha Allred as Specialist Stansbury Area, HR. The district office is at 92 South Lodestone Way in Tooele and can be reached at 435-833-1900 if the directory does not resolve a name. No university campus staff directory specific to Tooele was verified, so a university row should not be inferred from a regional connection.
Utah Employee Directories for Tooele
The Utah State Phone Directory asks for both last name and first name before it will search. Its notice prohibits using the results for mailing lists, commercial activity, or marketing. Transparent Utah serves a different need. It allows a partial employee-name search with filters for year, entity, employee, and staff title, then presents public payroll data with a raw and unaudited warning.
Use the phone directory when the goal is a work contact. Use Transparent Utah to understand a public payroll entry tied to an entity and fiscal year. Neither source is a general resident directory, and a record in either one only establishes the person's listed public role. County boards, elected-official pages, agendas, and rosters provide another route when a local official is not in the city staff table.
Note: Work directories change with transfers and departures, so confirm a current office through the agency before relying on an older entry.
Tooele Property Owner Directories
Tooele County's parcel systems work like owner directories. GIS supports searches by parcel ID, address, road, primary owner, any owner, subdivision, mineral survey number, and mining claim name. Results can expose the primary owner, all owners, situs address, mailing recipient, account and parcel identifiers, legal description, subdivision, lot, book and page, and a direct EagleWeb link.
Situs means the physical property address. MailTo is the tax correspondence address. Neither proves current residence. A confidentiality flag can also limit what appears. Suggestions and results in the GIS interface cap at ten, so a partial-name query may need a more specific address, parcel, or subdivision. EagleWeb adds recorded-party names and parcel-linked document indexing from January 1, 1995.
Full document images cost $5 for one day, $75 for one month, or $750 for one year. Earlier deed work can require grantor and grantee books at the County Recorder or the historical county collection. The full access rules and request routes belong with Tooele public records, while this directory use focuses on the names and roles the indexes expose.
Tooele Professional People Directories
Utah maintains separate official directories for regulated roles. The DOPL license search can match a name beginning with or containing the entered text, then narrow by profession or license type. Results support credential and status checks. The Utah State Bar directory covers attorneys, while the educator system covers licensed education professionals.
The Utah educator search shown here is the official statewide route for an educator license and assignment search.
The educator screenshot provides a focused credential search, not a list of all people connected to a Tooele school. Search the school district directory for current local staff contacts, then use the state tool when the question concerns licensure.
The Utah State Bar member directory pictured here provides the corresponding official path for attorneys.
The bar screenshot should be read as a professional roster. A professional entry establishes a listed credential or membership and contact data shown by that keeper. It does not prove a home address or a person's presence in Tooele on a given date.
Tooele Business Directory Trails
The Utah Business Entity Search can show an entity or DBA status, entity number and type, registered agent, filed address, and filings where available. A registered agent is a person or service designated to receive legal papers. That role is not proof of ownership or residence. The Tooele Chamber member directory is voluntary, so it cannot establish that an unlisted firm does not exist.
Tooele City Business Licensing keeps local applications and a licensed-business index, but no public name-search interface was verified. Ask the City Recorder for the current public register or a named license. Private home and contact fields may need redaction. Food-inspection data supplies another establishment directory beginning July 1, 2013. For earlier inspections, contact Tooele Environmental Health by GRAMA at eh@tooeleco.gov or 435-277-2440.
Note: State entity, city license, chamber membership, and health inspection entries answer different questions and should not be treated as substitutes.
Tooele Cemetery Name Directories
The Tooele City Cemetery office maintains an index of burial-space certificates and transfers. Twice each year, the supervisor records evidence of approved burial rights with the County Recorder. That creates an unusual cross-check between a cemetery directory and recorded land-style instruments. The office at 361 South 100 East can answer lot and interment questions at 435-882-4241, but no city-run online interment search was verified.
FamilySearch's Grantsville Cemetery burial cards cover 1855 through 1991 and are arranged alphabetically. Cards can state the grave, deceased person's name, birth date and place, parents, death or age, and spouse. The Tooele City Cemetery place page reports 9,573 linked people and provides a Find a specific person tool. Funeral-home obituary archives and the Tooele Transcript Bulletin, published since 1894, can add relatives and community context.
A lot owner is not always the person buried in the space. Reconcile the certificate, interment entry, obituary, and death evidence. This is especially useful in family-history work, where the name of a purchaser or informant can point to a relative but should remain labeled by that exact role.
Historical Tooele People Directories
The strongest verified directory of historic county names is the Utah, Tooele County Records, 1855–1956 collection. It reports 114,486 images and includes marriage affidavits, grantor and grantee indexes, deeds, land abstracts, military discharges, naturalization papers, and wills. Search fields include first names, last names, birthplace at several geographic levels, and birth year, with More Options and Browse All Images.
- Grantor and grantee index
- A name list pointing to the person transferring property and the person receiving it.
- Reverse directory
- A directory arranged by street address or phone number instead of surname.
- Record series
- A group of records created for the same government function and tracked together by an archive.
- Finding aid
- A description of an archival collection, its scope, dates, and arrangement.
Tooele's surviving name sources form a long timeline. Third District records begin with the district's 1851 organization. County collection images start in 1855. Irrigation-company papers span 1873 to 1972. The newspaper dates to 1894, civil registers begin in 1896, and the parcel-linked electronic index starts in 1995. A documented naturalization gap covers 1903 through 1909.
Some naturalization volumes from 1896 to 1955 were recovered from a Tooele antiques store. That survival story is a warning against treating a catalog gap as proof that no record ever existed. Search by variant spelling, initials, residence, and date. Images may require a free account, an affiliate library, or a FamilySearch center.
Verify Tooele Library Directories
The Tooele City Library at 128 West Vine Street is the local referral point for directory and genealogy questions. Its public pages did not verify exact years for printed city directories, telephone books, reverse directories, obituary indexes, or yearbooks. They also did not confirm access to specific licensed genealogy databases. The library's collection policy points specialty genealogy research toward the Family History Library.
Ask before making the trip. Call 435-882-2182 for a title, publisher, inclusive years, missing volumes, format, branch location, access limits, and copy rules.
No authoritative public neighborhood, congregation, union, club, alumni, veteran-post, or Army Depot personnel directory was found. Those lists may also be private membership records. Official historical photograph collections cover the Army Depot, smelter, and railroad, but the inspected finding aid does not turn those images into a staff roster. Honest gaps prevent a general photo collection from being mislabeled as a people directory.
